Our Story

Westbourne Cares Indigenous Corporation

Empowering Communities,
Enriching Lives

At Westbourne Cares Indigenous Corporation (WCIC), we are driven by a mission to empower Indigenous communities through education and the creation of opportunities for growth and development. Our focus is on building a sustainable financial foundation for community-led initiatives and infrastructure development.

Community Development
and Education

WCIC is dedicated to enhancing the capacities of Indigenous communities. We believe in a holistic approach to education, grounded in the principles of empowerment, human rights, inclusion, social justice, self-determination, and collective action. Recognising community members as experts of their own lives, we highly value community knowledge and wisdom.
Our community development educational programmes are entirely led by community members, from the initial planning stages through to action selection, implementation, and evaluation. These initiatives aim to redistribute power to address the root causes of inequality and disadvantage, empowering communities to recognise and challenge the structures impacting their wellbeing.
To support this, WCIC provides free laptops to those facing barriers to educational outcomes, ensuring that all community members have the tools they need to succeed.
We plan to offer various educational courses in the Sydney metro area and various locations in Western NSW. These will focus on increasing skills, knowledge, empowerment, self-efficacy, and enhancing social inclusion and community connectedness.

Health and
Wellbeing Education

As part of our commitment to promote community development, WCIC will provide free educational training on Mental Health, Wellbeing, Traditional Languages, and personal health with Indigenous trainers leading the courses. We aim to break down barriers within communities, promoting understanding and cooperation.

Education serves as a cornerstone for economic opportunity and social infrastructure development. By investing in a robust educational system, we aim to attract businesses, create jobs, and foster sustainable community development.

Information Exchange
and Community Services

WCIC recognises the power of education in promoting open-mindedness and cooperation. We will facilitate the exchange of information and skills, and support participation in community development activities, services, employment, and housing. Education will not only promote peace and understanding among different groups within the Indigenous communities but also strengthen relationships between communities.

Conclusion

WCIC is more than an organisation; it is a movement towards a more empowered, educated, and interconnected Indigenous community. We invite you to join us in this transformative journey as we work towards a brighter, more equitable future for Indigenous peoples. Together, we can build stronger, more cohesive communities marked by increased social capital, civic engagement, and improved health outcomes.
